About the procedure

LED therapy (photodynamic therapy, photobiomodulation, chromotherapy or colour therapy) is an innovative, physiological and safe approach in cosmetology, based on the effect of light waves of different colours and wavelengths on the body.

When the LED device is used, chromophores within the skin cells absorb the light, converting it into thermal and chemical energy and triggering photochemical processes.

The procedure has a macrobiological effect, which manifests itself in a change in the pH of the intercellular fluid, enhanced blood microcirculation, accelerated delivery of beneficial substances, and improved functioning of all organs.

What does LED therapy affect?

LED has a wide range of effects. Depending on the colour of the light, the treatment activates specific bodily functions:

  • red — accelerates blood microcirculation and lymphatic flow, stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, increases skin firmness and improves skin texture, and smooths out wrinkles;
  • blue — has an antibacterial effect, reduces inflammation, aids in the treatment of acne;
  • green — suitable for all skin types, restores skin integrity, normalises metabolic processes, reduces rosacea and hyperpigmentation, evens out skin tone;
  • purple (a combination of red and blue) — stimulates collagen production, brightens the skin, and reduces post-acne marks and scars;
  • yellow and orange — detoxification, reduction of swelling, accelerated wound healing, and a fresh, healthy appearance;
  • blue — moisturises the skin;
  • white — anti-stress therapy.

During LED therapy, the entire area of the body directly within the device’s range of influence is covered to a depth of up to 2.5 cm. A positive general strengthening and psychotherapeutic effect is observed.

Benefits of the procedure

LED therapy is safe for all skin types and works well in combination with microcurrent treatments and other device-based procedures. It can be used on patients with autoimmune conditions.

Using a state-of-the-art LED device, colours can be mixed and matched during a session. A special pulsed mode is used for stressed skin.

The highly qualified professional staff at the BG LAB centre will carry out LED therapy, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere and a personalised approach. The treatment is affordable and offers great potential for combination with other techniques and procedures.

How should you prepare for LED therapy?

No special preparation is required for LED therapy at BG LAB.

The treatment must not be combined with skincare products containing retinol, peptides, alpha-hydroxy acids, alginates or natural oils. It is also not recommended to combine it with classic or fractional RF lifting.

Patients using these methods must cancel any prior appointments, change their skincare products or take a break. You must also inform your doctor if you are taking any medication on a daily basis.

How does the LED therapy treatment work?

During the treatment, the patient lies comfortably on a treatment couch. Their eyes are protected with special eye shields or goggles.

Before the session begins, make-up is removed and the skin is thoroughly cleansed. Superficial exfoliation is carried out using a special mask, a cold hydrogenation concentrate, ultrasonic peeling or diamond microdermabrasion, which removes dead skin cells.

Using a handpiece or a special arch-shaped mask (depending on the device), the skin is stimulated for 20–30 minutes. At the end of the session, a toner and a finishing cream, or an alginate or plaster mask, are applied to the skin to enhance the overall effect.

The optimal frequency is twice a week. The course consists of 3–6 sessions. It can be used throughout the year, in any season. It is particularly in demand between November and March.

What results does the patient achieve from LED therapy?

The device’s LEDs emit waves that stimulate the production of biochemical substances and biological processes in the body. Inflammation and redness of the skin are noticeably reduced, and the skin becomes more supple and fresh. The skin’s blood vessels undergo significant changes. The appearance of acne and the visibility of pigmentation spots are reduced. The body’s cells receive a boost of energy, and their overall metabolism improves. The procedure provides a feeling of complete relaxation.

The effect of the light is cumulative, so the benefits of LED therapy build up gradually. This has a positive impact on the patient’s well-being, health and appearance.
